Frost avoidance

Frost and ice hazard for people working in the shop and corrupt mechanical handling equipment, as well as worsening the performance of the cooling system (Fig. 15.3). It moves due to the difference in the pressure of the vapour. Typical steam pressure has found the applications in refrigeration design are given in Table. 15.1.

This difference in pressure vapor that draws moisture in the shop. This will happen even if the shop is located in positive pressure mode. Moisture will move in the direction opposite to the direction of air flow through isolation, if allowed to do so (see Fig. 15.4). For example, 1% moisture by volume may reduce the thermal performance of up to 85%, reduction of U-value is 0.25-0.47 W/m2K.

Cold storage areas to work on the negative pressure; this is explained by the cooling effect of the air passing through the evaporator unit. This differential pressure draws outside the ambient air in the shop, related to its moisture.

Air penetrates in the vault of the doorways, where high-speed air flow can be created.

These streams of air increases the height of the door and sustain growth. Growth is not linear, it increases almost square. The penetration rate of air motion through outdoor cold store door will be from 0.5 to 2 m/s, depending on the size of the door and cold warehouse height.
