Technical information Industrial Current Electricity

Current

Electric current is the movement of electrons along the electrical conductor. For example, pressing the button on the door closes (completes) circuit, causing electrons (current), which flows through the circuit. This electric current is ringing the bell.

There are two common types of electric current;

  • Direct current (dc).
  • Alternating current (ac).
DC is a continuous flow of electrons in one direction. This type of current used in the automotive starter, lighting and ignition. Direct current is used in the majority of solid-state circuits.

DC is used on the radio electric appliances such as toothbrushes, electric shaver, and drills. It is also widely used in electronics. DC power required to charge the battery with the battery only produce DC.

Alternating current is the flow of electrons along a conductor in one direction, then in another. This type of current used for most power and light applications.
