PIPELINES IN THE FUTURE
One of the purposes of this Chapter was to modern methods of installation, which in the result of effective and safe operation of refrigeration systems. The main theme, however, was on the procedure to determine the recommended size of the pipe, which usually means the minimum recommended size. As a rule, this operating advantage for pipes larger than the minimum recommended. Exception to the General rule is that the vertical lines of the evaporator should not be too big, otherwise the oil can not return satisfactorily in Halocarbon systems, and liquid refrigerant can accumulate in the ammonia vaporizer and increase the boiling point. Of course, there is a price to pay for the installation of large-size pipesincreased cost of materials and installation. The payment for these additional costs, low pressure drop in the pipes that gives modest improvements in efficiency for the life of the plant and to increase the cooling capacity.
All those involved in the planning of the system can be convinced that the capacity specified for the plant is final and will be enough for eternity. Five years later, however, another refrigeration space or process may need to be added, and large-size pipes can accommodate a specific extension up to approach their minimum sizes.
