Electrostatic Electricity

There are two types of electrostatic chargespositive and negative. Objects with the same kind of charge repel (push apart) each other. Two substances with different charges tend to attract one another.

Two of the device used to indicate the electrostatic charge on the electrometer and the electroscope. Simple electroscope consists of two small strips of aluminum foil attached to a metal rod. The rod is extended through the top stoppered glass bottle. When this core contacts body having an electrostatic charge, two strips of aluminium away from each other. They were charged with the same kind of electric charges.

Accommodation, as the two poles of magnets close to each other demonstrates the same reaction. Magnets act as if a strong invisible spring had come between them, preventing contact

A typical example of electrostatic generation occurs when a person goes on a carpet. It charges the body of static electricity. Touching the Cabinet, faucet, or a pen, this difference will quickly dissipates (spent). There may be visible and easily heard spark discharge.

Silk rubbed glass produces a positive charge of static electricity on the surface of the glass.

Plastic rubbed with wool or fur will generate a negative charge.

Refrigeration technicians engaged static electricity in two applications. This applies to the capacitor used with condenser type motors. The term of the capacitor means almost the same as the capacitor. Capacity measured in farads employs a unit of measurement that describes the capacitor to store electrostatic charge. Electrostatic electricity is also used in electrostatic air purifiers.
