There are two main types float valve is used in refrigeration:

on the high side or high pressure float operating at high pressure;
low pressure float, which runs at the low pressure side.

High pressure float usually has the extension valve integral in the float chamber low pressure float can be an integral expansion valve one or remotely installed in the liquid line, controlled by the pilot line...
