Maintenance Of The Motor Bearings

In any tools, electric motors, bearings should be inspected to see if they are worn. If the rotor hitting the stator, bearings wear out and must be replaced.

The clearance between the rotor and the stator varies from .015" .030", depending on engine size. This gap must be the same all the way around the rotor. Heavy rumbling sound at the start usually means that the bearing is badly worn, although the rotor can be without touching the field of poles.

The bearings are usually made of phosphor bronze and pressed at the end of the brackets or at the end of the bells. Sometimes they locked with a pin code passed through the bearing housing and bearing. The bearing must always be pressed inward to remove it.

Be careful not to put out of the line of force by the end of the bell when you click on the bearings. It's probably crack the end of the bell. A special tool can be used to install or remove the sleeve or bearings. After the new bearing is pressed on a bracket, the bearing must be renamed. Better two packs in accordance with adjustable scan.

Shaft surface in contact with the bearing must be perfectly smooth.

In scored shaft repair lathe with the grinder, mounted on the tool post.

If the bearing overheating may occur for the following reasons:

  • Oil too heavy,
  • Oil too thin. Select high quality mineral oil for lubrication. It must not be strongly affected by changes in temperature. He also must not foam and bubble too freely.
  • Dirt or sand in the oil.
  • The belt is too tight.
  • Pulley hub mbbing from the bearing.
  • The motor is not properly lined up, causing the valve shaft shoulder to pull on, or pushed, one bearing.
