MULTI-STAGE COMPRESSION IN INDUSTRIAL REFRIGERATION

A significant proportion of industrial refrigeration plants work with the big difference between the temperatures of evaporation and condensationperhaps 50 to 80 C (100 150F). This large temperature Elevator imposes both problems and possibilities of the system. Is the possibility of use of multi-stage compression that, although the increase in the carrying value of a single-stage compression and also addresses some of the problems and can save on the total capacity of the compressor. In multi-stage compression of the refrigerant flows, mainly, in a series of two or more compressors, special processes running on the refrigerant between stages. In this Chapter, we consider two stage compression, but the principles can be extended to three stages of compression, which is a mechanism sometimes used in extremely low-temperature installations.

The use of two-stage compression opens a possibility to use two key processes that characterize multistage systemsflash gas removal and intercooling. It is instructive to examine these processes individually before combining them, as they exist in real systems. The number and level of temperature of the evaporators in the system imposes another variant of the configuration of multistage systems. Chapter concludes with a consideration of the cascade circuits, which are a form of multistage systems...
