Screw Compressor Chillers
Screw compressors are the most often used to increase the power of the chiller applications. These compressors requite the use of high-pressure refrigerants. There are a number of benefits associated with screw compressors, these include: high capacity in a small Department, flexibility and pipelines. Cm. Figure is 24-75.
Although screw compressor positive displacement compressors, they are able to handle some of the liquid refrigerant without damage of the compressor. Performance control is achieved through the use of the spool. Slide-valves suction gas to its input rotors. Pressure drop works spool with a step of 10%-100% of the load. Screw compressors pump a large amount of oil, while compress the refrigerant. An excess of oil in the system will lead to decrease of heat and power loss. Oil separator is used for oil return into the compressor reservoir. Differential pressure moves the oil through the rotating parts of the compressor. Two rotating screws, screw do not touch. The gap between them is contained in the oil extracted while they appeal.
