Capillary Pipe Fittings
Capillary tube soldered connections often in both the condenser and the evaporator end. In other applications, capillary tube attached to the evaporator and condenser or dryer. Fittings shall be sealed and the ability to withstand vibration.
Figure 5-50 demonstrates how to make these connections. Item 1 shows the use of a special nut, which compresses against the capillary tube fitting. Nose section deformed as nuts are tight. Nut must always be replaced when the capillary tube in the repair.
Detail 2 shows the capillary tube brazed 1/4" OD soft copper pipes. Large then the receiver can be connected to the system using normal broke installation.
Item 3 shows a larger tubes are soldered to the capillary tube. Tyres larger pipe connection is done with a flared installation. Mechanical connections often change during the capital repairs with the use of special capillary tube, fittings.
Detail 4 shows a typical broke installation connected to a special capillary-tube. The diameter of the capillary tube determines the size of the installation.
