Portable and self-contained air conditioners used to cool spot a specific area, without the cost of installing a traditional system. These air-cooled units are mounted on wheels and the evaporator and condenser elements combined in one unit. The condensate is collected in a drainage tank complete with the unit and can be manually drain or pump can be applied for automatic removal of condensate to drain. Warm air flange duct and fixed to the top of the device to remove the condenser warm air above the working area. When you use in the office, warm air duct can be placed in a suspended ceiling with airspace or cold air can be conducted in the room, requiring cooling.
Uses for portable air conditioning/spot cooling include:
Primary cooling. When people are hot operations such as welding, soldering (see Fig. 18-15), or furnaces, spot cooling will make a difference in performance and security. In the manufacturing industry, portable air conditioning intensify processes, when the material is too hot to handle or package.
Additional cooling.
When the Central system is not sufficient, portable air conditioning protects significant investments in the electronics, computer and telecommunications equipment from thermal overload.
Emergency cooling. When the Central system fails or is down for maintenance, portable air conditioners can be stored on a standby basis.
