The size of the pipes and other components

Pipe cooling system size offer a low resistance to flow, as it reflects directly on the compression ratio to be commensurate with the economy pipe cost and minimum flow in order to ensure the oil return.

The pressure loss on friction in the pipes can be calculated from the basic formulas established by Reynolds and others. However, as in the calculation of heat transfer, it will be a laborious process, and some options are not known exactly. Treatment is usually simplified assessment tables published in the works of reference, or software for this purpose.

Pressure drop and high-pressure side, as a rule, will be small enough to have a negligible impact on performance. Pressure losses in the suction pipe and fittings, especially if it's long, should be checked, and the adjustment of the actual pressure compressor suction. For low temperatures, pipe sizes can be increased to avoid excessive friction losses at these low pressures; oil return should always be considered.

Flow regulators, such as evaporator pressure regulators, will not necessarily be the same nominal pipe size in which they are installed. Producers of data, for the selection of their products are usually very full, and their guidance should be sought in case of any doubt.....
