Cooling of concrete
Establishing concrete is exothermic reaction, and a large mass of concrete in the foundations of buildings, bridges, dams will be heat, causing the cracks if the check box is not selected. To counteract this heating, materials are cooled before and how they are mixed, so that the concrete is placed about 15 K cooler than the ambient temperature, and warms the environment on the installation. In practice, the final mix, the temperature can hold up to 10C.
Methods of pre-cooling combined with cold air to cool the mixture of water and to provide part of the mix as a flake ice. Chilled water pipes can be buried in the concrete mass...
