Spray baffles cooling tower

Technical information Air-Conditioning Cooling Towers

Cooling towers

Many refrigeration and air conditioning systems are water-cooled condensers. This is a very efficient and does not occupy much space. Often, water-cooled condensers have piped water circulating through them. This water is then discharged into the sewer. This mechanism uses large amounts of water and can be quite costly. Moreover, in many places do not allow the use of tap water for cooling the air conditioner capacitor.

In such cases, cooling towers can be used for cooling water. The cooled water is recirculated through the compressor outer shell. Some of the makeup water will need to replace the water lost through evaporation. The scheme of the water tower shown in Fig. 20-21.

The tower house or barn, where the air is sucked in, It has a water spray organization and partitions. Sprayed water is exposed to the air flow and becomes cool. The float mechanism is connected to a water spray. He maintains a constant level in the water reserve tank. The pump circulates cooling water through the refrigerant in the condenser. Water sometimes sprayed on the screens.

Cooling towers are available in a large range of sizes. Small can be used for cooling with water cooled condensers for household conditioners. Very largest of them is required for cooling the condensers in the large thermal power plants (TPP).
