Technical information Air-Conditioning Cork Insulation

Cork Insulation

Cork coating of pipes is prepared by pressing dried and granulated cork in metal moulds. Natural resins in tube associate the whole lot in its new shape. In the case of cheaper, cork, artificial binder is used. The tube can be adapted to the pipes and fittings, or it can be done in flat boards of different sizes and thickness. Cork has a low thermal conductivity. Natural binder itself makes tube highly water resistant, and its structure provides a low capillarity. This can be done practically impervious to water by welding and with the smell of asphalt.

All fittings of the pipeline, as the pipe itself, must be carefully insulated to prevent heat gain in order to protect the insulation of pipes from moisture and damage and to eliminate condensation problems. Cast cork coverings specifically for this purpose is available for all common types of fittings. Each coatings must be the same in all respects, as the insulation of pipes, except for the form, and should be formed so that it joins the isolation of pipes with a break. Typical cork fitting covers come in three standard thickness of ice water, brine, and special brine.

To ensure maximum performance and a long period of cork, it must be correctly applied and maintenance, and properly selected.

Therefore, it is important that the manufacturer's recommendations and instructions and follow them in detail. General information-review of the data.

All piping shall be clean, dry and free from leaks. It is also advisable to paint pipelines with waterproof paint before applying isolation, although this is not recommended for all producers. All the joints must be sealed with waterproof cement in the application. Installation of insulation should be used practically in the same order, with the addition of a mixture of crude hot paraffin wax and granulated cork is used to fill the space between fittings.

Rock-Cork Insulation

Rock-cork insulation made commercially moulding mixture of mineral wool and waterproof binder in any form or required thickness. Mineral wool made of limestone melted about 3000 degrees Fahrenheit, and then blown up in fiber, high-pressure steam. It is mixed with asphalt binder and molded into various commercial forms. Thermal conductivity is approximately the same as the cork, and the price may be lower. Thanks to its mineral composition, it is odorless, vermin-proof, and free from decay. As the tube, it may be completely waterproof by welding and smell asphaltum. Screed thickness, made of mineral cotton wool and a binder premolded in single-layer sections 36 inches long to fit all standard sizes of pipes and, as a rule, the situation with the factory waterproof jacket.

When the pipelines are insulated with rock cork coverings, fittings, as a rule, the isolation of the villages of mineral cotton wool impregnated with asphalt. This material is generally supplied in felted form, with a nominal thickness of about 1 inches and a width of about 18 inches. It can be easily adapted to any type of fittings and effective as an insulator with the correct application.

Before applying formed the rock-cork insulation the first step is to thoroughly clean and dry the pipelines and then paint it with bitumen waterproof varnish. The rectilinear sections of pipelines near are covered with insulation, which has two longitudinal joints and one end joint of each section with plastic coating of cement. Section tightly butted together with longitudinal joints, top and bottom, and temporarily stored in a location staples. Plastic cement has a coat that part of the external field, each section covered with a waterproof down on his knees and on his knees press gently into it. At the end joints must be sealed with waterproof fabric, embedded in the coats of plastic cement. Each section must be protected permanent place from three to six cycles of annealed copper-clad steel wire...
