Technical information Air-Conditioning Fan Operation

Fan Operation

Fans can also be centrally located in the attic or other suitable space (for example, in the hallway), and arranged to move air in proportion to multiple rooms. The local unit can be mounted in a window, to provide comfort for cooling a single room only when necessary. Attic fans, as a rule, rowing and should be selected for low velocities to prevent excessive noise. Fans should have sufficient capacity to provide at least 30 air changes per hour.

To reduce the noise associated with the air-exchange equipment, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

The equipment must be properly located to noise without affecting the living room.
Fans should be of adequate size and capacity to obtain reasonable speed.
The equipment has to be installed on elastic rubber or other material to assist in preventing the transmission of noise in the building.

If it is inevitable to find attic air-exchange equipment over bedrooms, it is important that all precautions be taken to reduce the noise from the equipment to the lowest possible level. As high speed motors of alternating current, usually quieter than the speed is preferable to use the high speed of the connected motor fan through endless V-belt, if the floor space permits such an arrangement.
