Technical information Air-Conditioning Compressor noise

The noise of the compressor

Each type of compressor produces a different type of sound, mainly because of its principle (piston, centrifugal, scroll and others) and it will also depend on its design and production. In General:
  1. Piston compressors produce more noise at low frequencies than the rotation type.
  2. The noise of engines compressors is located in the middle of the frequency band.
  3. Noise in the high frequency bands is due to compression of the gas and flow rate.
  4. Noise level depends on the operating conditions.
On Fig. 31.2 the United frequency noise levels for normal scrolling and semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors are shown. This is only General trends and manufacturer's data, you should always go for specific information.
