Liquid Receiver
Liquid receiver is a welded steel tank, usually equipped rooms with two valves. One liquid receiver service valve installed between the liquid receiver and condenser. The other is located between the receiver and the liquid line (king valve). These two valves allow a specialist disconnect the liquid receiver of the system separately.
Receivers must have safety devices. Heat release a plug-in provides minimal security. Some receivers have both thermal and pressure releases. Special line must be installed on the pressure relief valve for refrigerant recovery system. The receivers can be mounted both vertically and horizontally. Figure 13-48A illustrates the vertical receiver. Figure 43-48B illustrates the horizontal receiver with the inlet valve outlet valve and relief valve. Horizontal style usually hangs under the compressor motor. Some provided with a devicesight glass, magnet floats or valves used to determine the level of the liquid refrigerant.
Liquid receivers with water inside the coils have a shell as those where there was no water coil. However, it is usually more for the same size of the compressor. The receiver must be large enough to hold all of the refrigerant in the system.
