Air-cooled condensers
In an air-cooled condenser refrigerant is condensed inside the finned tubes, through which air is blown by fans. If the air-cooled condensers used in aggressive environment (for example, near the sea or in the air), fins made of copper, or fin block tin-plated or coated with PVC.
Air-cooled condensers are prone to clogging of the airborne debris, such as dust, feathers, packing, etc. need to be regularly cleaned to prevent the accumulation of pollution, as this will reduce the air flow and, consequently, increase the pressure of condensation. Also, if the capacitor is in a vulnerable position, by fin block must be protected to prevent damage, but there must still be a free circulation of air.
For small systems with air cooled condenser is built on a frame with the help of the compressor and receiver, as shown in Fig. 23. Packaged water chillers are also available to a very large size, where the whole Assembly, including air-cooled condensers, which are installed on one base plate.
