Air duct for the add-residential evaporators

One of the most effective ways to add the whole house with air conditioning evaporator coil of the furnace. Evaporator becomes an important part of the whole system and not a channel. This can be added to the existing furnace (all air conditioning and heating package. There are two types of evaporator, down-flow and flow.

Down stream in the evaporator installed under downward flow of the furnace. (See Fig. 5.1.) Lennox makes down-flow models in 3-, 4-, and 5-ton sizes with an inverted letter "A" coil. (See Fig. 5.2.) Condensate drains downhill side of the pallet. This unit can be installed in a Cabinet or in a utility room where the stove is located. This type of unit is shipped from the factory-assembled and tested.

To flow evaporator, installed on the top of the furnace. They are used in a basement, a closet and installations. (See Fig. 5.3.) Adapter base and coil are shown as they were recorded on the top to flow in existing furnaces. (See Fig. 5.4.) The Plenum must be removed and replaced once the coil were placed in the upper part of the furnace.

In most cases, use the add-on top of the evaporator means that the fan motor must be changed to a higher power.

Evaporator in the Plenum makes it more difficult to force air through the system of heating. In some cases, pulley size of the fan and the motor must be changed to improve cfm (cubic feet per minute, the speed of moving past the evaporator.

Some engines have sealed bearings. Some of the fan Assembly, for example, as shown in Fig. 5.5, sealed bearings; in other bearings. In such cases, the owner must know that the motor and fan should be oiled periodically to operate effectively. On Fig. 5.6 shows how evaporator is located on the top of the furnace, making up the flow type of air conditioner is working properly. Electric motor of the fan below the heater and the Plenum.

The evaporator is not useful if it is connected to the compressor and condenser. These tend to be located outside the house. Fig. 5.7 shows the typical outdoor compressor and condenser. This device is compatible with furniture from 2.5 to 5 tons, air conditioning, power range of 27 000 58 000 BTU. Please note that this particular unit has a U-shaped heat exchanger of the condenser, which forms three vertical sides. For more surface area is designed to make the unit more efficient energy transmission. The fan that with thermostatic control, has two speeds. It changes to a slower speed when the ambient temperature is below 75 degrees Fahrenheit (23.9 degrees).

Like most compressors designed for residential use, this hermetically sealed. These protective devices are built in: suction ventilation overload relay, pressure relief valve, and a crankcase heater. Controls include high and low pressure switches. They automatically switched off if the pressure becomes excessive or suction pressure drops too low.

In apartments where the free space, another type of device is used. It differs only in size. (See Fig. 5.8.) Compact has a fan, filter and the evaporator is contained in a small package. They have electric heat roll. In some cases, the hot water is used for heating in the winter.

Figure 5.9 shows the different ways in which these units can be mounted. Power is usually 18,000 to 28.000 Btu. Note the location of the control unit. This is important because most of the problems with the content under the influence of electric and not the refrigerant fault. This type of installation allows each apartment tenant to his or her own controls...
