The Crankcase Heater
In many of the compressor applications, it is necessary to heat the compressor crankcase evaporate the liquid refrigerant is trapped in oil. Most large compressors for commercial applications installed crankcase heater when the compressor production. This is especially true if the compressor at low temperatures (outdoor unit). These heaters can be operated during the off cycle or they can be controlled by a thermostat.
Small installations, as a rule, do not require a built-in crankcase heater. Accessory heater may be purchased and supplied to the crankcase.
