Room Air-Cooled Condensers

The correct air pressure in the air cooled condenser can be defined as follows. First, add 30F or 35DF (167C to 19.4C) air temperature. This gives the refrigerant temperature inside the condenser. Then, using the corrected temperature, see the refrigerant diagram for the correct pressure.

Air can be supplied into the system, if the pressure ts above normal and sufficient air movement exists. ("Air inputs and outputs of the air must be free.) There is also a probability that the unit is overcharged. If the pressure is below normal, it is not excluded, that the block is understated.

Most commercial air-cooled condensers use forced convection. They have one or more fans to move the air through the condenser. Large fans or belt-driven or direct-drive. Fans, motors, belts and need regular maintenance and service.

Several condenser fans sometimes virtualization fans. When more condensation required, all the fans are working. As condensation load is reduced, the first fan is switched off, then the second, and so on. Sequence control should be checked if the fans are not working.

Other systems use variable speed fans. Some outdoor am cooled condensers have a thermostat controlled blinds. They all work to partially close or terminate, as the outdoor temperature decreases. If the head pressure is too low, refrigerant management capacity decreases.
