Suction accumulators
Suction line batteries sometimes inserted in the refrigeration circuits are used for the separation of liquid return and prevent its transformation into the compressor. As this fluid will happen with the oil, and that oil should be returned to the compressor, drain pipe inside the separator dips at the bottom of the vessel and has a small vent to suck the oil (see Fig. 9.12). Version with heating coil through which the hot gas accelerates the evaporation of the liquid in the trap, Fig. 9.12(b).
