Centrifugal Chiller Compressor

Centrifugal compressor chillers are used for very large installations of up to 2000 tons in a single Assembly. These refrigerators have the capability of processing large amounts of refrigerant. They use centrifugal force to move the refrigerant from low to high side of the system. Fig. 4-72A, impeller, similar to big fan creates a pressure drop on one side (intake pipe) on the other (outlet pipe). Gearbox accelerates compressor, providing speeds of approximately 20 000-25 000 rpm
